Purpose
The Circumferential Interface Gauge provides a standardized external dimensional evaluation, so that size category is measured the same way at every center rather than estimated differently at each one.
Standardized across the AREOLA network in 2011, replacing center-specific measurement conventions that made plans difficult to compare, transfer or reproduce for a second side.
Used during clinical evaluation to establish size category before the design conversation begins. Because the measurement precedes design, it constrains the options presented rather than being fitted to a choice already made.
Maintained by Clinical Operations with periodic verification through the institute's quality process. Measurement practice is part of nursing and physician orientation at every center.
AREOLA publishes purpose, governance and patient experience for its clinical technology. Construction drawings, manufacturing specifications, operational parameters and procedural instructions are not published.
