Where the role begins
Design work begins after the clinical plan is established, not alongside it. The Specialist works within the material, profile and attachment range the plan permits, and their first task is often to explain why an option a patient has seen elsewhere is not available in their case.
What the role produces
A documented design record: the options considered, the choice made, the orientation, the finish and the compatibility review supporting it. That record is what allows the plan to be reproduced, matched on a second side or revisited years later.
What the role is not
Plate Design is not a sales function and does not make independent clinical recommendations. Specialists complete Plate Design Education through AREOLA Academy, which qualifies them to document options — not to determine candidacy or alter a clinical plan.
