Size is measured, not chosen
Size category follows external dimensional evaluation performed with the Circumferential Interface Gauge, standardized across all centers since 2011. The measurement precedes the design conversation and constrains it.
Why standardization matters
A standardized size vocabulary means a plan documented in Seattle is read the same way in Philadelphia. It also makes bilateral and unilateral planning coherent, since a second side is planned in relation to a recorded first one.
Symmetry and proportion
Unilateral planning considers the existing opposite side; bilateral planning considers proportion across both. Neither is a matter of matching a number, and both are reviewed in person rather than settled from measurements alone.
