What coordinators handle
Scheduling, records, referrals, benefits routing, travel arrangements and communication between teams. A coordinator is assigned at first contact and stays with the patient, which matters most for the substantial proportion of AREOLA patients who travel for care.
What coordinators do not handle
Coordinators do not answer clinical questions, assess candidacy or interpret results. A clinical question is routed to a nurse or physician rather than answered approximately, and coordinators are trained to make that hand-off rather than to be helpful past the boundary of their role.
