One route in
The National Referral Center at 334-209-7090 and referrals@areolainstitute.org routes every clinician-initiated referral, selects the appropriate center and specialist, and stays with the referral until the patient has an appointment. Email is not a secure channel: please do not send records, health information or other personal details by email.
What to send
A clinical summary, available prior procedure records, appropriate imaging or photography already available, a current medication and allergy list, and patient contact and preference information. AREOLA can begin intake with partial information rather than waiting for a complete file.
Choosing a center
Referrals are matched by clinical need, subspecialty focus and practical travel considerations. Where a patient would be better served at a different center than the nearest one, the Referral Center says so and explains why.
Communication back
The referring clinician receives confirmation of intake, notice of the scheduled appointment and a summary after the consultation, unless the patient directs otherwise.
Content is reviewed with the relevant clinical, nursing, materials or administrative department before publication.
