About this page

What this page is.

Referral routing, clinician-to-clinician consultation, records transfer and professional education, organized through the National Referral Center so that a clinician has one number rather than nine.

01

Referral

Every clinician-initiated referral is routed through the National Referral Center, which selects the appropriate center and specialist and stays with the referral until the patient has an appointment. AREOLA can begin intake with partial information.

02

Consultation without referral

The Clinician-to-Clinician Line answers specific questions — whether a situation warrants referral, how a system relates to a planned imaging study, what a documented plate plan means in practice — without establishing a clinician-patient relationship or transferring responsibility for the patient.

03

What comes back

Referring clinicians receive confirmation of intake, notice of the scheduled appointment and a summary after the consultation, unless the patient directs otherwise.
