What the collection is for
Formal plates are worn occasionally and chosen for surface character rather than durability: lustre gold, high-polish silver, defined profiles and finer engraving that would show handling if worn constantly.
Planning a collection
Formal plates are planned in relation to the everyday plates a patient already uses, so that profile and proportion remain consistent when a plate is exchanged. Compatibility with the registered interface is confirmed for each piece.
Care and storage
Occasional-wear plates are stored dry and separated, and reviewed at the Annual Plate Check along with the rest of a collection. Surfaces that are worn rarely still change, particularly antiqued silver.
Content is reviewed with the relevant clinical, nursing, materials or administrative department before publication.
