01

Timing

Pools, open water and hot tubs are usually among the later stages of a return to activity, because immersion, temperature and pressure combine while the site is still settling. Your care team gives a timeline based on healing rather than a general rule.

02

Water, chemistry and finish

Chlorinated pools, salt water and mineral spa water each interact with metal surfaces differently over time. Rinsing with fresh water and drying carefully after swimming is the general recommendation; anything more specific depends on the material and finish in your plan.

03

Interchangeable systems

Patients with interchangeable systems often keep a specific everyday plate for swimming rather than wearing formal or commissioned work in the water. Design Specialists can plan for that during the initial commission if you swim regularly.
