Program purpose

What this pathway is designed to develop.

The Visiting Surgeon Program is designed for experienced surgeons who want to understand how AREOLA connects clinical evaluation, design, materials, nursing and longitudinal follow-up. It is not a procedural workshop and visitors do not enter an independent clinical role.

01

Learning domains.

01

Consultation observation

How clinicians establish scope, discuss uncertainty and separate patient goals from premature system selection.

02

Multidisciplinary conference

How complex elective, revision or magnetic-system questions are prepared, discussed and documented.

03

Planning workflow

How physician, nursing, design and materials responsibilities connect without collapsing professional boundaries.

04

Quality & continuity

How follow-up, patient experience, plate registration and network learning return to clinical governance.

02

Program structure.

Application and verification

Applicants provide a professional appointment, license information, learning objectives and conflict disclosures. Acceptance depends on faculty capacity and an appropriate observation plan.

Patient permission

Observation involving a patient requires specific permission and may be declined or withdrawn without affecting care. Some activities use de-identified or simulated material instead.

After the visit

Participants receive an attendance record and may join selected Academy conferences. The visit does not authorize use of AREOLA instruments, systems or branding.

03

How learning progresses.

  1. 01

    Complete role and prerequisite verification.

  2. 02

Begin with orientation, shared terminology and scope boundaries.

  3. 03

Progress through observed, simulated or supervised learning appropriate to the program.

  4. 04

Document participation, assessment or qualification without overstating what the record means.

04

Assessment, records and boundaries.

Assessment or record

The program uses a defined observation plan and faculty debrief rather than a competency judgment, because visitors do not perform or independently direct clinical work.

Scope boundary

Visitors remain observers. They do not examine patients independently, provide recommendations, participate in procedures or receive clinical privileges through the program.

Curriculum review
