The opportunity

Why this role exists.

The Magnetic Systems Engineer connects design engineering, laboratory evaluation and clinical-system feedback. The role focuses on the behavior of the complete registered platform rather than treating the interface and external plate as unrelated components.

Patients rely on a clear compatibility record across a permanent interface and every registered external plate. This engineer helps AREOLA translate testing, quality observations and field experience into a more dependable system over time.

What you will do.

  • Plan and document engineering evaluations for magnetic retention, registered compatibility and system-level performance.
  • Analyze laboratory and quality data to identify trends, open questions and appropriate follow-up work.
  • Partner with Clinical Engineering on design controls, change review and technical documentation.
  • Support investigation of system observations reported through clinical, quality or long-term-care channels.
  • Communicate technical findings to multidisciplinary audiences without overstating what the evidence supports.

No AREOLA role operates alone. This position maintains close working relationships with:

  • Magnetic Systems Laboratory for evaluation planning and execution
  • Clinical Engineering for design history and change governance
  • Quality & Safety for trend review and system observations
  • MagnePlate clinical leaders and Human Factors researchers

What you bring.

Required experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, biomedical, materials or a related engineering discipline.
  • Three or more years of product, systems, test or reliability engineering experience.
  • Ability to structure technical questions, analyze results and maintain defensible engineering records.
  • Strong communication across laboratory, clinical, quality and nontechnical teams.

Helpful additional experience

  • Graduate study or experience involving magnetic assemblies or small mechanical systems.
  • Experience with risk management, design controls or regulated product development.
  • Background in human factors, reliability engineering or investigation of field observations.

Your first year.

First 90 days

Learn the MagnePlate design history, current evaluation framework and clinical registration model.

Six months

Lead a defined compatibility or reliability workstream with reviewed technical documentation.

Twelve months

Translate a completed engineering study into an approved quality, design or monitoring improvement.
